I am an avid believer in using different techniques to help individuals, because, simply put, every individual is different. With that said, I have had numerous sessions of psychotherapy both in an individual (one-on-one) setting and a group setting as well. Both of these divisions have their own benefits. In individual psychotherapy, the most significant benefit comes down to confidentiality. Many people need that space and need to build trust with their therapist to be able to open up; individual psychotherapy allows just that. In addition to being more private, this method also tends to go more in depth, and provides a more individualized approach to treatment because of that one-on-one factor.
